just to name a very few.
She had the enviable gift of hospitality, forever bringing people together to
meet a new friend or neighbor, graciously sharing a seedling or cutting from
her lovingly tended garden, or to share one of her delightful and extremely well
thought-out meals. She loved to sew and to cook and had the personal histories
of all of her recipes ready at-hand to share with any who were interested.
Pat had a lifelong passion for reading fueled by the discovery of the public
library as a child living in California during the Depression.
She was a devoted KU Jayhawks fan, following them with almost as much enthusiasm
as she followed the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Pat was
a most loyal and thoughtful friend.

ROBERT
DAVID STALDER
|

Robert David Stalder fell asleep in death on December 11, 2006 in St. John Hospital,
Springfield, MO after a long battle with heart disease.
Robert was born September 22, 1931 at Edgerton Junction, MO to Robert Arthur
and Rosa Mae Jobe Stalder the only son and eldest of two children.
He grew up in the Edgerton, Dearborn area, working with his father, caring for
the crops.
He graduated from Dearborn High School in 1950. He played the trombone and played
basketball like he was six feet tall. He attended S.W. Missouri Junior College
in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Robert was drafted into the Army and then Airforce during the Korean conflict.
He traveled the world from Iceland to Panama, the Phillipenes to Korea and the
Azores, Monagua, Nicaragua, Germany, England, France to Labrador. Because he
was single he was able to spend extended time on these missions. He became a
professional aircraft mechanic and he was never bothered when pilots and other
mechanics called him for that knowledge. These calls came long after his tenure
with the government.
The last was a call from a General in Brazil who would not fly until Robert signed
off on his plane. That man had not spoken to Robert for 20 years.
Robert loved to fly. He felt it was one of his great accomplishments in life
but in later years it fell into place. He took every class, every opportunity
to learn to fly. Along the way he became an aircraft mechanic who was often chosen
to fly with the planes around the world.
He received his ASMEL Commercial pilots license and he always said “I’d rather
be flying” It was a life long love. He held his A&P license and practiced his
expertise for more than 40 years.
He was also a certified ASE auto mechanic. Wherever Robert went someone needed
something fixed and he did it.
He put his feet on the ground in the early 70’s when he made two life altering
decisions. The first was he studied the bible and dedicated his life to the Grand
Creator as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served faithfully until his death.
His second decision was to end his long single life and marry. He married Mary
L. Mulvaney on February 17, 1973. They would celebrate their 34th anniversary
February 17, 2007.
Robert served the Leavenworth congregation as an elder until the early 90’s when
he moved to Springfield, MO Eastern Hills congregation. These are small words
but he accepted them in a large way. He always verbalized that he knew God lived
when he gave talks because as his English teacher would affirm he would not give
any speech or recitation in from of anyone.
He was always available for the fatherless boy or girl and he held the animal
creation in awe. Two qualities that seemed so natural for him.
He worked for Collard Chevolet for 8 years while doing air craft maintenance
and annual air craft checks. Since he loved doing it he forgot it was a second
job.
Finally he worked for Global Air in Kansas City and then Central Aviation at
the old Municipal Airport in K.C. from where he retired. They registered a plane
with the FFA with tail #922 BS, Roberts date of birth and initials. That plane
still flies and can be seen landing in Springfield from time to time.
Roberts parents preceded him in death; his great granddaughter Abigail Nicole
Loyd, his brother in law Jerry Buchanan, his brothers in law Charles and Roy
Mulvaney and his father in law Elmer N. Mulvaney.
Robert is survived by his wife Mary L. Stalder, Springfield, MO; his sister Georgetta
Buchanan, niece Tammy Buchanan, nephew Eric Buchanan all of Smithville; mother
in law Ethel Mulvaney, sister in law Patricia (Ed) Bowers of KC, MO brother in
law James Mulvaney (Sharon) Florida and John Mulvaney (Kim), North Carolina.
Robert leaves five daughters; Robin Wilkinson, Royce Horton (Maurice), Springfield,
MO; Renee Aguilar and Rosalee Knight, Anchorage, AK, Sari Tierney (Rich), Mississippi.
His grandchildren; Shephelah and Jonathan Loyd, Maryl, Chris & Danny Little,
Timothy Aaron Aguilar, Willa, Ed Jr., Chris and Cassandra Knight, MaKayla & Jackson
Ford, Maurice Jr., J.J., Robert Taylor and Aries Horton. Robert and Kristen Irby.
Great grandchildren DeShawn, Isiah, Jackson, TJ`harrah, Elise, Adriel, Joshua,
Skyler, Josh.
Two more Great grandchildren Nick & DeLaura complete Roberts family as he again
has reached out making them his own and enjoyed having children at this time
in his life.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Davis
Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Easton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2006 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at
the funeral chapel.
