Anthony (Tony) C. Baker, 80 passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born March 27, 1942.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Marcella Biehler Baker, a sister, Sister Mary Erwin SCL.

He is survived by his brothers, Larry (Judy) Baker, Ken (Shelia) Baker, a daughter Christine (Larry) Bolz, a son, Steven Baker and a granddaughter, Emma Bolz.

He attended Sacred Heart School and Immaculata High School. After graduation from high school he attended St. Benedictine's College before joining the United States Army.

After his discharge he joined his uncle, dad, and brothers at Bakers Department Store. He was active in many non-profit organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Bill State Park Committee and the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum, to name a few. He promoted the city as a destination for travelers in the area. He felt the city had a lot of history to capitalize on and he worked on this at the Convention and Visitors Committees of the Chamber of Commerce and the city for almost 50 years. He and his family also established and sold Christmas trees at the Baker Christmas Tree for over 30 years.

Visitation will be 10 A.M. to 11 A.M., Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1405 Second Avenue, Leavenworth, Kansas follow by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. A private burial will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be given to C.W. Parker Carousel Museum or Sacred Heart Church.
