Buelah Lowe Fitzpatrick lived a life that bloomed quietly and beautifully, leaving a garden of love in every heart she touched. Born April 20, 1927, in Magnolia, Arkansas, to Leroy and Annie Lowe, she grew up surrounded by her beloved sisters, whose closeness shaped her joyful and outgoing spirit.

On March 15, 1950, she married Leo Fitzpatrick, the love of her life. She often said it was love at first sight. Their marriage was built on faith, devotion, and family. Leo preceded her in death in 2003.

Buelah was gifted with a true green thumb, she had creative hands and a generous heart. She was a talented seamstress, potter, and exceptional cook, she poured love into everything she made. She created ceramics, taught classes, collected antique dolls and jewelry, and completed countless puzzles with patience and joy. She encouraged her family to live boldly, try new things, and carry themselves with confidence. Her strength was quiet but unmistakable.

Buelah loved the Lord deeply and affectionately called Him her “Boyfriend.” The 23rd Psalm “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” was her comfort and her guide, a reminder of God’s protection, peace, and eternal promise. After giving her life to Christ, she became devoted to her church—raising funds, serving faithfully, and dressing with elegance because she believed God deserved her best. She welcomed visiting ministers into her home and fed them with the same love she gave her family.

She worked for many years as a domestic worker in physicians’ homes and later volunteered at the Leavenworth Assistance Center, where she helped provide clothing for families in need. She encouraged everyone to pray, trust God, and hold on to hope. Most of us remember the days of her no‑nonsense strength, and the way she served us with homemade treats and good food, and a love that spoke louder than words.

Buelah was preceded in death by her children Leroy E. Tanner, Jacqueline Fitzpatrick, Variese Johnson, and Leora Williams (Diane), as well as her sisters Madgalee Doss, Ola Mae Lowe, Variese Tolbert, Farniece Derritt, and Rebecca Simpson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Helen Cooper and Cleo Dennis, along with a large and loving family of grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, great‑great‑grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Buelah has gone home to her reward. We rest in the promise that we will see her again. Her hope—and ours—is in Jesus Christ, her Redeemer. She held close John 17:3, believing that eternal life begins with knowing Him, a truth she lived and passed on to all who loved her.

If you lean into the quiet and whisper “I love you,” don’t be surprised if something inside you whispers back… “A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck,” or her tender, playful “I’m gonna keep ya.” Her affection lingers—familiar and forever yours. 

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Monday May 11, 2026 from 3 to 5 P.M. Graveside service will be held at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10 A.M.
