Billye Edward Cordell Sr., 83, of Lawrence Ks., passed away on September 2nd, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Billye was born on September 4th, 1939, in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to Charles and Emmaline Cordell. After graduating from Leavenworth High School in 1961, he served in the Air Force for three years. Upon leaving the Air Force, Billye started a long career at Trans World Airlines where he worked for 36 years as an aviation mechanic.

On July 11th, 1964, Billye married Shirley and went on to have 3 children, Billye Jr., David, and Timothy. Billye and Shirley were members of King Soloman Lodge No. 10  in Leavenworth, Ks., participating in Eastern Star, White Shrine, and Knights Templar. They were also lifelong members of First Baptist Church in Leavenworth Ks.

Billye enjoyed traveling with his wife and their dogs Cody and Joy. They were members of a gold prospecting club and attended events frequently. Billye loved reading and amassed a large library over the years.

Billye was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley J Cordell. He is survived by their three children, Billye E Cordell Jr. (Beth), David Cordell (Lynley), Timothy Cordell (Stacy), and several grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Enhabit Hospice. There will be a Funeral service at Davis Funeral Chapel on September 18th, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Followed by a service at noon and burial at The National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m
