Bobby Wayne Whited, 86, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away December
7th , 2020 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Gates City, Virginia on
September 7th, 1934 to Charles Whited and Fannie O'Neal Whited. During his Sophomore
year of high school, his family moved to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In High School he ran track
and was a member of the FFA. After graduating from Gettysburg High School in 1953, he joined
the Marine Corps. While stationed in Japan, he was assigned to work for the post office. He
served 3 years and acquired the rank of Sergeant. After the military, Bobby attended Shepherd
University in West Virginia and earned a B.S. in Business Administration. He began a 30 year
Civil Service career with the Department of Army. He married Barbara Bell Snook June 18th,
1960 in Hagerstown, Maryland. In 1979, he attended graduate school at the University of
Virginia for Public Management. Bobby and his family lived in Zweibrucken, Germany;
Hampton, Virginia; St. Louis, Missouri; East Moline, Illinois; Lowemont, Kansas and
Leavenworth, Kansas.
Bobby enjoyed outdoor activities of hunting, fishing, sailing, wine making, golfing and skiing.
After retiring from the Government, he bought a farm north of Easton and loved farming and his
cows.
His siblings include Norma Alexander of Fairfield, Pennsylvania (deceased); surviving members
include Judy Blizzard of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania and Sheila Singley of Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania.
Bobby is remembered in loving memory by his wife Barbara Whited of Leavenworth and
Lowement, Kansas; daughters Cindy (Carl) Wilson of Richmond, Virginia; Karen (Mark) Miller of
Lansing, Kansas; and Linda (Jason) Langston of Olathe, Kansas along with his loving
grandchildren Chad Miller, Ashley Miller, Paige Miller, Jack Langston, Reagan Langston, and
George Langston.
Visitation will be held Sunday December 13th, 2020 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Leavenworth, Kansas. Funeral services will be held Monday December 14th, 2020 at 10 a.m.
at Trinity Lutheran Church. (Masks are required.)

A small memorial will follow the funeral at Round Prairie Cemetery located just west of Highway
7/73 and Roe Rd north of Easton, Kansas. Visitation, Funeral and Cemetery Memorial are
welcome to all who wish to celebrate the memory of Bobby.
