Bonnie Jean Kelley Coffman went to her home in heaven on February 22, 2024. She was born June 25, 1944, in Leavenworth, Kansas, the daughter of Leo W. and Mary Catherine O'Dwyer Kelley.

Bonnie worked for the federal government starting her employment with Selective Service System (Local Draft Board No. 37). On Fort Leavenworth she also worked at DOIM, and Finance & Accounting and finally as an Engineering Support Assistant with the Post Engineers, retiring in 1998 with 25 years of  Federal Service. Prior to her federal service she worked for The Leavenworth Times and after her retirement from federal service she worked at Fort Leavenworth Credit Union and Armed Forces Insurance, where she retired again after 13 years.

Bonnie attended Immaculata High School and Leavenworth High School for one year, as well as Kansas City Community Junior College. Her history at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church dates to her days at the Old Cathedral Grade School where she actively continued her devotion until her death. On January 21, 1967, she married James (Jim) Coffman in Leavenworth, and he preceded her in death.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leo W. Kelley, Jr. She is survived by her son John H. Coffman (Amanda) and two wonderful grandsons Blaine Kelley Coffman and Gage Matthew Coffman and one sister Jeri Melanson, Colorado Springs, CO.

She was very proud of her Irish heritage and would often drive the Grand Marshall in the Saint Patrick's Day parade in her black 99 Camaro SS convertible. She loved football and made it well known to all that she was a proud K-State Supporter. She loved reading, following politics, old movies horse races, NHRA drag racing and car shows. She loved going to the events as a family with her husband, son and his family, lasting memories that will never be forgotten. She loved spending time with friends, helping with donation of funds to the Paralyzed Veterans of America and Wounded Warriors, and with her love of animals she gave to the Wildlife Association and Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society (LAWS), and other numerous charities. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 56 Women's Auxiliary, Eagle's Auxiliary, and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary for many years. Bonnie was very patriotic and loved her country and felt in some ways she served her country during the time she worked for Selective Service System, sending out greetings from the President of the United States was not an easy task during Vietnam.

We will miss Mom more than words can express, other than to say: When her Irish eyes were smiling, the world was bright and gay, and she did steal our hearts away. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 .P.M at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday,, February 28, 2024. Mass of Christian burial will be at Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:30 A.M at Immaculate Conception Church. Memorial suggestions, Immaculate Conception Church, St. Luke's Hospice, or Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society (LAWS).
