Obituary

Brett Anthony Walker, 43, of Lansing, KS went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Brett was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on September 15, 1978 to John E. and Mildred A. Walker. He was educated in St. Paul Lutheran School and the Leavenworth Public Schools. Brett had two siblings John E. Walker Jr. and Angela L. Walker. Brett served 8 years in the United States Air Force. He received numerous awards while on Active Duty, to include the Air Force Achievement Medal with OLC and the National Defense Service Medal. While serving he lived in Florida, Korea and Missouri and eventually settled down back in Leavenworth. Following his military career he worked for the Department of Defense as a Contractor for Northrop Grumman. Brett then continued his career with the Department of Defense as a civilian employee, working as a Military Analyst at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Brett had many special interests, all of which included his children and extended family. He loved coaching and mentoring the youth and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks fan. Brett was also a devoted member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where he was the Superintendent of Sunday School. He served as a Chairman of the Trustee Board and on the Usher Board for many years. He also sang in the choir and loved to fellowship with other churches in our community.

Brett is survived by his wife, Jessica Marie Walker of Lansing, KS; his parents, Mildred A. and John E. Walker of Leavenworth, KS; his children Anthony T. Walker (Chynna) of Indianapolis, IN, Ilani R. Mann (Josh) of Leavenworth, KS, Alexis N. Sanford of Evansville Indiana, Marcellus Smith of Lansing, KS, and Angela R. Walker of Lansing, KS; his Mother and Father In-Law, Pamela R. Wright and Robert Wright; his sister in law, Pamela Garcia and brothers in law Anthony Garcia Sr. (Hillary) and Richard Dado Sr.; his nieces and nephews, Dana Wells (Austin Sr.), Desarae Silvers (Anane), Danielle Harvey, Anthony Garcia Jr., Isabella Garcia, Henry Garcia, Emmanuel Benson, Mahalei Dado, Ricky Dado Jr., and Kaydon Webb; his great nephew and niece, Austin Wells, Jr. and Sahara Silvers, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and honorary nieces and nephews.

Brett is preceded in death by his brother, John E. Walker Jr., and his sister Angela L. Walker.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 2, 2022 2 to 4 p.m. Independent Baptist Church. Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Independent Baptist Church 601 Pottawatomie, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. Repast will be immediately following the Celebration of Life at Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church Hyman Jarrett Fellowship Hall 1708 5th Ave, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. The Internment will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., gathering at Davis Funeral Chapel at 10:30 and going to Sunset Memorial Gardens, Leavenworth, KS.
