Christina M. Thompson (Chris), born on February 23, 1936, in Leavenworth County, Kansas. Chris was the sixth of fifteen children raised on the family farm by her parents, Francis and Mary Gast. Chris went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 5, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.
She married Jerome (Jerry) Asbury in July 1954, with whom she lovingly raised six children: John (Melissa) Asbury, Mary (Bob) Rosenberger, Mark Asbury, Bruce (Christie) Asbury, Brian (Angie) Asbury, and Craig Asbury. Following Jerry's passing in January 1990, Chris found happiness once more when she married Kenneth (Kenny) Thompson in April 1991, cherishing their years together until his death in April 2013.
A woman of unwavering faith and devotion, Chris dedicated her life to her family and her church, both of which she held dearly. Her faith was her guiding light, and her love for her family was boundless. Surrounded by her 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, Chris found her greatest joy in their company.
Active within her church and various social circles, Chris was known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity. She delighted in traveling and excelled in her successful tax business, earning admiration and respect throughout her community.
Chris is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Asbury; her husband, Kenneth Thompson; her son, Craig Asbury; her parents Francis and Mary Gast, Sr.; sisters Elizabeth Mercer, Henrietta Bradley, Clara Darrow, Lucy White; brothers Francis Gast, Jr., Steven Gast, Sr., Herman Gast and Vincent Gast. She lived a rich, fulfilling life, shaped by her deep faith, steadfast love for her family, and enduring commitment to those she held dear.
Chris's legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will forever live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Her memory will be cherished, her love never forgotten, and her spirit carried forward with grace and gratitude.
A Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM with visitation immediately following until 7PM at Davis Funeral Home at 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth, KS on Tuesday April 8, 2025.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saint Francis de Sales at 11:00 AM on Wednesday April 9th with burial immediately following at Mount Calvery Cemetery.
