Clarence Felder Sr. passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 5 to 7 P.M. Funeral service will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 10 A.M. Burial will follow with military honors on at 12:30 P.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Clarence Felder Sr., 102, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Leavenworth, Kansas, having lived a full and
meaningful life surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born on February 3, 1924, in Givhans, Dorchester County, South Carolina, Clarence was the son of Frank Felder and Rebecca Norris Felder. He spent his early years in Dorchester County, living in Burns and Ridgeville during his youth.
Clarence served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Following his military service, he married Merienne Eloise Minnis of Pratt, Kansas, shortly after. Together, they began their family and settled in Leavenworth, Kansas, around 1947, where Clarence made his home for more than 75 years.
He devoted many years of service to Wadsworth Old Soldiers' Home in Leavenworth, now known as the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he worked until retirement. In his later years, he continued to be active in the community.
Clarence was known for his warm spirit and friendly nature. He never met a stranger he didn't like and was always kind to neighbors, friends, and acquaintances. He enjoyed collecting coins and was especially known for his cooking, which brought people together and created many cherished memories. His family was deeply grateful for the blessing of his long life and the extraordinary milestone of reaching 102 years of age.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, good food, and deep love for his family.
He is survived by his children, Arlie Yvonne Felder (spouse Melvin A. Goode Jr.) of Sacramento, California; Carol Marcelle Felder of Leavenworth, Kansas; Clarence Felder Jr. of Leavenworth, Kansas; and Terence Alan Felder of Ofallon, Missouri; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Merienne Eloise (Minnis) Felder, who passed away on October 31, 2015; his parents, Frank Felder and Rebecca Felder; his brothers, Wallace Dennis Felder, Thomas J. Felder, and Richard Felder; and his sisters, Dorothy Bolden, Artlee
King, and Earthell Felder. He will be remembered with love, gratitude, and pride by all who knew him.
Funeral for Clarence Felder Sr. will be held on April 2, 2026 at 10:00 am at Davis Funeral Chapel located at 531 Shawnee Street Leavenworth Kansas 66048 Visitation will be held April 1st, 2026, 5:00-7:00 pm, at Davis Funeral Chapel.
Officiating will be Stephen Anderson.
Interment will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery
located at 150 Muncie Road
Leavenworth, KS 66048.
