Obituary

Cynthia Ann (Cindy) Porter passed away on March 19, 2026 in Bryan/College Station, Texas.


She was born in Leavenworth, Ks., on July 4, 1934, to Charles Rossiter and Irene Nicola Bransfield. She attended The Old Cathedral Grade School, and graduated from Immaculata High School with the Class of 1952. She went to work at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center in June 1952, and retired in July 1989 as Secretary to the Chief of Staff. She married Dr. Harry B. (Dick) Porter, a Leavenworth Optometrist, on March 11, 1963. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2007. Also preceding her in death were her parents; her brother-in-law, Col. Clement D. Eagan; and her nephew-in-law, Allan Shimshack. Following her retirement from the VA Medical Center in 1989, she moved to El Paso, Texas where she resided for 23 years. She then moved to Bryan, Texas in 2012. During her grade school years, she began playing the organ at the Immaculate Conception Church (then the Old Cathedral Church) in Leavenworth, and was the church organist at the time it was destroyed by fire in 1962.

She is survived by her sister, Janet Eagan, Bryan, TX; her niece, Elizabeth Shimshack and her husband, John Bruce, College Station, TX; her niece, Angela Eagan, Nashville, TN; her great-nephew, John Childs, Nashville, TN and her faithful cat, Olivia. Funeral services will be handled by Davis Funeral Chapel and held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 1:30 P.M.at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
