Obituary

Daniel H. Crute, 95, of Leavenworth, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at his home in Leavenworth.

Daniel was born in May 1925, in Washington, D.C.  Daniel is the son of Walter and Fannie Mae Crute.

On Aug. 27, 1950, in Atlanta, he married Elizabeth A. Crute and remained married for 52 years.  He remarried Evelyn Wise in 2012. She survives him at her home in California.

He is also survived by his children, Shegale C. Crute Thurmond and Kenneth T. Crute, both of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Danielle Elann Crute of Atlanta and Keyia Elise Crute Fuauan, and his great-granddaughter Amirah E. Crute both of Leavenworth..

Daniel is a retired Master Sergent in the U.S Army and is a WWII and Korean war veteran.  He later retired from the Kansas State Penitentiary in Administration Daniel served his community in many different aspects.  Serving as a Minister of the Gospel, Choir and Band Director, and Member of the Prince Hall Military Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, 32nd Degree.  He was a member of Bethlehem Church of God Holiness in Atlanta.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. The funeral service will be at  11:00 A.M, Thursday, November 19th, also at Davis Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
