Obituary

Daniel Mac Hazzard, 67, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at Saint Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Dan was born on March 22, 1956 to Robert James and Marian Ann (McRae) Hazzard.

He graduated from Jefferson West High School in Meriden, Kansas where he played football, then attended Kansas State University and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Dan might tell you he never worked a day in his life as he loved each season of his career. For many years he served as the General Manager for several country clubs in Kansas. So, it was no surprise that he was a fabulous chef and enjoyed cooking and entertaining at home. In the later years of his career, he pursued his passion for automobiles in sales and as an inventory manager for Danny Zeck Ford in Leavenworth.

During retirement, Dan, sporting his signature Hawaiian shirts, found plenty of time to relax with his fishing pole in hand. His desire to give back to the community in which he lived led him to drive a school bus for USD 469 in his free time. He became a favorite to the students in which he served bringing tremendous joy, and "donuts or candy" on occasion.

Dan dearly loved his family. He married Tammy (Holcomb) and together they had two children. Courtney and Brandon.  They later divorced. He married Tammy (McCarter), and to that marriage he added a step-son Cody. He is survived by his wife-Tammy Hazzard, children-Courtney Hazzard, Brandon Hazzard, Cody McCarter (Danielle), grandson-Caleb McCarter, sister-Susan Kaspar, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Hazzard, mother Marian Jorgensen, and step-mother Elizabeth Hazzard.

A Memorial Service will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, Kansas on Friday, December 15, 2023, 1 P.M. to 3 P. M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Luke's Hospice House in care of Davis Funeral Chapel.
