Obituary

Darlene Lauterbach passed away at home on March 11, 2023, at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ed, and lovingly remembered by her son Mike, daughter-in-law Karen, and grandson Patrick.
Darlene grew up on the family dairy in Argentine, Kansas. After starting school at Sacred Heart Elementary in Kinney Heights, she graduated from Argentine High in 1952. Darlene's group of friends formed a sorority in high school, and continued to put on plays and have other activities for years after until they married and started families. After graduation, Darlene worked as a secretary at the Swift Packing Plant until she married.
Darlene met who she called her "wonderful guy" Ed in 1954 and they married in 1956. Because of Darlene's love of dogs, they showed Cocker Spaniels until 1963. Ed decided that instead of working for someone else's home improvement company, he and Darlene would start their own home construction business. With Darlene's support, they built and sold houses for about 15 years until 1979. In 1980, they opened Friar Tuck's Stained Glass in Leavenworth, and traveled throughout the Midwest, attending many art festivals, until they retired in 2019.
Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5 to 7 P.M.
