LTC David L. Meredith, Sr (Dave) 80, Sunday, died on January 14, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Lansing, KS
He was born on August 31, 1943, to Ira Meredith and Norma (Carter) Meredith, in Herrin, Ill.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Ann (Richard) Meredith, Son, David L. (Bud) Meredith, Jr., (Abbi), Easton, KS , Daughter Gale L. Myers (Dustan), Easton, KS, 5 grandsons Brandon Darnell, Jeffery Hearne and David Lee Meredith, III., Christopher Jennings and Devan Myers, by 3 granddaughters Hannah Hearne (Loren), Allison Meredith, Leighann Jennings (Tanner Thoos) and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Scott (Paul) of Loveland, CO, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded death by his parents and Brother Lloyd and Sister Wilma Spelbring.
He married his Bride on June 6, 1964, in Johnston City, Ill. He served 26 years in the U. S Army, serving 3 tours in Vietnam, and several military installations. While serving in the U.S. Army, he earned a master's degree in business administration. After retirement, he went on to sell New York Life Insurance, then went on to sell Hearing Aids. He enjoyed working in the yard, riding his motorcycle, fishing and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, and returning to his hometown for annual festivals, high school reunions, and to visit with old high school classmates. He belonged to Calvary Baptist Church where he served up until his death as a Deacon for many, many years, as well as The
American Legion Post 411 and the Lions Club. He supported Leavenworth/Lansing Chamber of Commerce, many political candidates running for and serving in local and State offices within the Republican Party. Dave touched and blessed so many lives in the Leavenworth/Lansing and surrounding areas.
Memorial contributions are suggested to go to Calvary Baptist Church, 4451 Tenth Ave, Leavenworth, KS 66048
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Monday, January 22, 24 from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23,24 at Calvary Baptist Church at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
