Deanna Joan Hyde, age 79, of Leavenworth County, passed away November 30, 2021, peacefully at her home.

Deanna Hyde was born on February 23, 1942 in New South Wales, Australia, the daughter of Marcus and Marjorie Blain (Hiscox).

Deanna lived most of her early life in South Grafton NSW, Australia and she frequently returned there throughout her adult life to visit her parents and only brother John Blain.

Deanna traveled and lived all over the world including England, Iceland, and Canada. She eventually settled down in Leavenworth County Kansas after getting married to start her family.

Deanna earned a Degree in Education and worked as a teacher for the first part of her career. She later took a position at the Leavenworth VA and worked her way up the ladder to become the Chief of Prosthetics. She held that title at the Houston VA and then the Kansas City VA until she retired in 2013. After retiring she returned to Leavenworth County to be a full-time Nana, residing with her son Tony and his family.

Deanna was a lifetime Jeweler, specializing in Australian Opals. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, and telling detailed stories in her thick Australian accent. She loved spending time with her pets and her family, and she was a kind and generous Nana to her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Marcus and Marjorie Blain.

She is survived by her only Brother John Blain, Two sons, Marc Hyde (Melissa) of Houston TX. and Tony Hyde (Kristin) of the home, and a Step-Daughter Cynthia Hyde (Cary) of Leavenworth KS, 6 Grandchildren, PJ Moon (Lydia) Lawrence KS., Kaylee Reed (Michael) Easton KS., Nick Hyde (Courtney) Leavenworth KS., Bryan LaFave New York, and Trey Hyde and Ian Hyde also of the home, and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Quinn and Forrest Reed, and also her loving pets Lilly and Katie.

No public service will be held per her wishes. A small gathering of close friends and family will be held at a later date.
