Debra
Laughlin
May 25, 1955 — Mar 29, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Debra Laughlin, who departed this world on March 29, 2025, at the age of 69. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend, Debra's kindness, resilience, and boundless love left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Born on May 25, 1955, in Oxnard, California, Debra lived a life rich with joy, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She was the beloved wife of Dwight Laughlin, her partner in creating a lifetime of precious memories. Family was the cornerstone of Debra's life, and she was a steadfast source of love and encouragement to those she held dear.
Debra dedicated much of her professional life to serving as an IT Administrator at Fort Leavenworth, where her intelligence, diligence, and dedication earned her lasting respect. Beyond her career, she found true happiness in the company of her loved ones—whether playing games with family, nurturing those around her, or cheering on their every achievement. An exceptional athlete, Debra displayed her strength and determination both on the field and throughout her life.
She was a devoted mother to Roxanne Brown, Stephanie Rivera, and Eric Wilson, guiding them with wisdom and unconditional love. Debra also embraced her role as a proud grandmother and motherly figure, especially to her granddaughter Carissa Kowalewski. Her heart overflowed with love for all her grandchildren: David, Andrew, Amber, Troy, Emmalee, Norah, Raelynn. And greatgranchildren: Oliver, Levi, Brylee, Zayden, Atlas, Enzo, Zoe, and Londyn, each of whom she cherished deeply. Debra was preceded in death by Granddaughter Shauna Marlar.
Debra will be remembered for her compassionate nature, warm smile, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and valued. Whether excelling in her career, competing in sports, or gathering around a game table with family, she left a legacy of love and connection that will endure.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, 531 Shawnee St, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Leavenworth County Humane Society, 100 W Gilman Rd, Lansing, KS 66048 (913-250-0506), in honor of Debra's deep affection for animals.
Though Debra is no longer with us, her spirit of love, kindness, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
