"Heaven gained an Angel Today"

Dolores Lucille Hornback passed away at home on May 31, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was born on April 25, 1932 to George and Ruth Donner who have preceded her in death.

Dolores was one of four children, two brothers, Victor and George Donner who preceded her in death and is survived by her loving sister Katherine Vanmeter/Kelly.

She was a proud farmer's daughter before moving to Kansas City where she met and married her husband, David Hornback in the year of 1953. David being enlisted in the military, Dolores became a proud military wife and mother of six daughters, Deatta Hornback and Linda Thibault who preceded her in death and is survived by four daughters, Joy Meyer, Carolyn Courtney, Barbara Anderson, Karen Ringuette.

Dolores was a strong matriarch of an ever growing family. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren with one granddaughter who passed away too soon, 36 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law and countless nieces and nephews.

Dolores was a proud military wife who took charge to care and move her family from Base to Base with some being in a foreign Country, where she enjoyed experiencing new cultures and the beauty of that country.

After a long career in the military, David retired and they made the move back to Kansas. Living in McLouth, Kansas for several years they moved to Leavenworth and Lansing, Kansas where they lived out their final years.

Dolores was a devoted Christian who attended Church on a regular basis. Her great Joy was in reading her Bible and listening to the word of God. She sang in her Church Choir and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Please come and help us celebrate her life on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church from 5 to 7 P.M. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church at 9:30 A.M. with a burial following at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
