Obituary

Donald James Portice, 66, Lansing, Kansas passed away Monday, June 23, 2025.

Donald was born in Orange, New Jersey to Robert and Rose Portice on June 28, 1958.

Donald married Denise Clampert on February 15, 1992, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Donald graduated from High School in New Jersey in 1976. Then he joined the United States Army and was soon deployed to Korea for three years. He was also stationed in Fort Leavenworth, Fort Richardson, Alaska, and Fort Carson, Colorado. He retired from the Army as a SFC in August of 1996. Donald received many awards in the Army, these include:

Meritorious Service Medal x2, Army commendation Medal x2, Army Achievement Medal x2, Army Education Ribbon x3, Overseas Ribbon x3, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal x6, Army Service Ribbon. He served Ronald Regan 1st inauguration Washington, D.C. He also received Soldier of the Month Fort Eustis, VA, Solder of the Month and QTR, 2nd Battalion 56 Air Defense Artillery, Bachelor of science cum laude upper Iowa University, Who's Who College and University Students 2004,1980 Graduate Peninsula Academy Criminal Justice, Thomas Nelson Community College Hampton, VA, 1986 Park College Associate of Science, 2004 Upper Iowa University B.S. Cum laude, 1976 West Essex H.S. North Caldwell, New Jersey, 2002 LCF Employee of the Month, 2013 LCF Programs Star of the Month, and numerous state, county and school awards and medals at West Essex H.S. North Caldwell, NJ.

Donald enjoyed fishing, snow skiing, cooking, animals, and soccer. Donald loved getting together with his family at family reunions.

Donald is survived by his wife, Denise Portice of Lansing, a son, Robert Joseph Portice,3 grandchildren, Piper Portice, Samael Portice, and Ailah Portice,  2 older brothers, Ed Portice (Linda) and Bob Portice (Lisa), 2 younger sisters, Joanne Nicolicchia (Tom) and Irene Portice.

Donald was a well-loved man and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8,2025 at the Davis Funeral Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 9,2025 at 10 AM at St Francis de Sales Church, Lansing, Kansas.

Burial will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. Francis de Sales Church, 900 Ida St, Lansing, Kansas 66043.
