Donald Wayne
Saighman
Sep 26, 1960 — Aug 7, 2026
Leavenworth, Kansas
With heavy hearts and fond memories, we remember the remarkable life of Donald Wayne Saighman—lovingly known to many as “Disco Don.” Born on September 26, 1960, and departing this world on August 7, 2026, Donald’s journey brought warmth, humor, and heartfelt generosity to all who knew him.
Donald’s life was a tapestry woven with love for his family, friends, and community. He grew up with the values of kindness, service, and laughter, graduating from high school with a sense of purpose that he would carry through every chapter that followed. Donald answered the call to serve his country, becoming a radio operator in the United States Army. His time in the military left a lasting impression on him, instilling discipline and reinforcing his enduring compassion for others.
Family was always at the center of Donald’s heart. He was the proud and devoted father to three daughters, two beloved brothers, and a cherished sister. While he also mourned the loss of a brother, the bonds of love and memories shared remained unbroken, a testament to the strength of his familial ties. As a father, Donald delighted in coaching his daughters’ softball and soccer teams, cheering from the sidelines and guiding them on and off the field with steadfast support and gentle encouragement. His broad smile and quick wit made every game, every practice, and every family gathering brighter.
Donald’s personality shone wherever he went. He was celebrated for his dry sense of humor, love of laughter, and the joy he took in making others smile. With a huge heart, Donald found fulfillment in feeding people—whether sharing a meal with loved ones or orchestrating treats for a community. In fact, for the past three years at Medicalodges of Leavenworth, Donald arranged for special baked goods to be crafted and shared with everyone at the Lodge for Christmas. This gesture of kindness encapsulated the spirit of a man who found joy in giving, especially during the holidays when small acts of care mean so much.
Food, and the memories created around it, held special meaning for Donald. He loved to eat, savoring every sweet bite of his favorite Cherry Mash candies and rarely passing up a hearty meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a biscuit—comfort food that, in many ways, mirrored the comfort he brought to those around him.
Donald’s loves were many: he was a loyal fan cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, a regular visitor to the zoo with wonder in his eyes, and a man of steadfast faith. One of his proudest and most transformative moments was his baptism at Harvest Assembly of God in Leavenworth, Kansas—an occasion that deepened his love for the Lord and strengthened his resolve to live a life of purpose and generosity.
Through all the ups and downs, Donald’s unwavering kindness, humor, and ability to bring people together left an indelible mark—a legacy of laughter, love, and selflessness that will be treasured by his daughters, brothers, sister, and all whose lives he touched.
As we honor the memory of Donald Wayne Saighman, we celebrate a life lived generously, joyfully, and with extraordinary heart. The echo of his laughter, the warmth of his faith, and the memories of shared meals and cherished moments remain with us, comforting and inspiring all who knew and loved him.
