Earl
Walker
Feb 17, 1958 — Apr 27, 2024
Leavenworth
Earl Lee Walker (Earlee) 66, went home to be with God on April 27, 2024 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo .
Earl was born on February 17, 1958 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was the only child of Alberta Baldwin. Earl was a very special person. He may have been physically disabled from birth, but he had a big personality as big as the sun. He was charming and lovable. Even though he could not speak, once you spent time with him, he learned to communicate with you and you learned to understand and interpret what he was conveying to you.
Earl lived at The Knoll/Shawnee House and there he was loved by all of his housemates. He in turn, loved them. He and his best friend Jessie had a fantastic connection. Shawnee House and the Riverside Resource Center is where Earl thrived. Before Covid, Riverside would take the residents of Shawnee house on trips. Earl went on outings to Pullman Restaurant, to Kansas City to the lce Capedes and other places
that many people have not been to in their lifetime. The Knoll/Shawnee House and Riverside were the best thing to happen to Earl. He was exposed to people other than himself and it was discovered that Earl was somewhat of a social butterfly. He loved coffee and Coca-Cola. Those two things, he could drink all day. He loved nice looking clothes and was particular in his taste for them. The second part of Earl's life was better than his first because there at the Shawnee House, Earl truly- LIVED.
Earl was preceded in death by his mother, Alberta Baldwin, and step-father George Walker. He is survived by his Aunt and Uncle James and Dora Baldwin, Leavenworth, Kansas, Jacqueline Thomas, cousin and Guardian, Joyce and Willie Jones, cousin, Clarence Thomas Jr., cousin and many other cousins in the Overland Park area, Ft. Worth, Texas and Dearborn, Michigan areas.
In the last days of Earl's illness he was at peace and happy. We would like to thank North Kansas City Hospice Hospital and KansasCity Hospice House both located in Kansas City, Missouri. The nurses, chaplains, social workers were simply fantastic. They gave compassionate care and loving kindness. There are not enough words to ever thank them properly. And many, many, many thanks to The Knoll/Shawnee House
and Riverside Resources. Thank you for your compassionate care and excellent looking out for Earl. He loved you all so much. t was plain to see. Thank you, Jessica, Tammy, Lynae, and all of the staff. Thank you so much. The whole staff provided Earl with a beautiful quality of life. You all are blessings.
