Earthell Bynum, 85, passed away quietly at her home in Leavenworth, Kansas on December 27, 2023. Earthell was born on January 19, 1938 in Ridgeville, South Carolina. She was the youngest of six children born to Frank and Rebecca Felder. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Evelyn Minnis, her parents, siblings Wallace Felder,T.J. Felder, Dorothy Bolden and Artlee King. Earthell received her B.S. degree from Bloomfield College at the age of 50, a fact of which she was particularly proud.  After retiring from private industry in New Jersey, she went into business for herself here in Leavenworth. Excellent Choice was the restaurant she  owned and operated for nearly 10 years at several locations in Leavenworth.  After a brief retirement, she returned to her original location and resumed business with her daughter-in-law Rachel for 10 more years.  Cooking had been her passion since childhood.  Several times throughout her culinary career,  Excellent Choice was voted among the top 10 restaurants in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Earthell is survived by her two sons Ivan Minnis, his wife Rachel, Mark Minnis, grandsons Ian Minnis and Kyle Minnis, brother Clarence Felder, sister-in-law Theresa Klugh and her husband James, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial contributions are suggested to UNICEF USA K.I.N.D. for children in need of school desks.  The celebration of life service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. A private inurnment will be held at Mt. Muncie cemetery at a later date.
