Elizabeth L. Diaz (Beth) passed peacefully on Friday March 8, 2024.  She was 98 years, 7 months.  At the time of her passing Beth had been a resident of Gower Convalescent Center since December of 2022. Beth's life will be remembered at a service  Monday, April 15, at 11:00 and family greeting at 10:30 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leavenworth KS.

Beth was born July 24, 1925, in  Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, to Agnes Mary and Roy Angus Phillips.  After several military moves, Beth and her mother moved back to  Leavenworth, KS and Agnes later married Bernard Klotz.  From this union Beth's brother Philip (Gail Hamilton Klotz) was born.

As a teenager, Beth was living in Los Angelas,California, and spent many hours becoming a very good roller skater.  She loved to dance on her skates and that attracted the attention of Ralph Diaz, a handsome young man who worked at the skating rink.  It wasn't long before these two married on October 6, 1945.

To this union two children were born, Steven Diaz  (Connie) Bullhead AZ, and Cynthia Diaz Frey (Steven)  Weston MO.  While a young mom, Beth worked at the Hotel Bel Air where she was a phone operator.  She had stories to tell of her interaction with various famous celebrities of the time.

Beth was a talented seamstress, quilter, knitter, avid reader, creative ceramics artist, and was a Bob Ross trained landscape painter.  Her abilities were admired by many.

Beth and Ralph moved back to Leavenworth after retirement to be near their daughter Cindy and her family.  After Ralph's passing on April 2, 2012, Beth moved in with Steve and Cindy Frey and enjoyed 10 years of watching the activities of Red Barn Farm.

Beth was a faithful follower of Christ and active in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her son Steven and his wife Connie,

Daughter Cynthia and husband Steven, grandchildren, Donovan Diaz, Amy Diaz, Lisa Diaz, and Stephanie Principato. Grand Daughter Rachel Magadan proceeded Beth in 2018. Beth adored her 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren and her many, many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed and remembered by many.  A special thank you to the kind and loving care givers of Gower
