Esther Dodd, 89, of Leavenworth, KS passed away at her home on Saturday, May 13, 2023 after a long and full life.

Esther was born on March 20, 1934, in Tangier, Morocco, the youngest of five kids. She attended school in Tangier, Morocco. She worked at the Tangier Social Security Office and then moved to Eilat, Israel where she worked at the Port of Eilat.

Esther went on a cruise vacation that went through New York City where she met the love of her life, Maurice. One year later, Esther moved to New York City to marry Maurice and start her life in the US. Together they traveled coast to coast and abroad with his military employment.

Esther was 4ft/10in tall yet feisty, smart, independent, and such an amazingly strong woman and role model. She was the foundation of our family and our constant supporter. Esther was a very loving mother, grandmother and wife and had the biggest heart ever.

Esther loved cooking, swimming, playing Bingo, listening to music/singing, and traveling all over, especially to the beach. She spoke seven languages. She treasured her years of involvement with the Military Wives Club and the Sisters of Charity. Esther spent her later years working at the Ft. Leavenworth Commissary as a sales vendor until retirement. She always had a smile on her face and was very welcoming to anyone she came across.

Esther is survived by her husband of 52 years, Maurice Dodd, of Leavenworth; her children; daughter Amelia Amy Hurley and her husband Mike, daughter Ruth Mercedes Dodd and her husband Brian, and daughter Liza Dodd; two grandchildren Haley and Skyler.

She is preceded in death by her parents Mimon and Amalia, her brothers Moshe, Mesod, and Mimon, and her sister Mercedes.

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 10 to 11 A.M. Funeral service will follow at 11 A.M. at Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial and committal service will be following at 12:30 P.M. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
