Frances (Ballard) Powell 11/16/1920 – 9/14/2022

Frances drifted peacefully into the arms of Jesus at home on the morning of Sept. 14, 2022.  She is survived by four of her five children, Larry Powell (Sherry,) Steven Powell (Tom,) Carl Powell (Lesley,) and Jorja Blocher (Jim.)  She is survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband, George Powell, and her son, Gary Powell.

She was born and raised in Camden Point, Missouri.  She met her husband, George Powell, there and they were married on July 3, 1939.  They raised their five children together in Leavenworth, KS, moving to Lee's Summit, MO. in 1986.

Frances was involved in local church events and volunteered in several areas around John Knox Village through the many years of living there. She cultivated many lasting friendships with other residents, staff and members of the community and was so appreciative of their care and kindness.   She enjoyed leading prayer groups and Bible studies, playing games, putting puzzles together, and eating lunch with friends.  She was a great cook and baker and enjoyed making and sharing large meals with family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, and nothing made her happier than sharing a laugh or story from her life with them. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will take place on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. for family and close friends at Sunset Memory Gardens in Leavenworth, Kansas.
