Francis Fredrick Mills passed away peacefully at home with loving family at his bedside on August 22, 2021.

He was born July 11, 1943 in Leavenworth, KS. To Roy Francis and Dorothy K. (Wise) Mills. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1961, KCJC in 1963, Commonwealth College of Mortuary Arts and Sciences in Houston, TX in 1965.

He was a loving husband for 58 years to Roxie (Hooper) Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason F. Mills, and sister Delores Fevurly. Survived by daughter Debra Babe (Norman) Johnson, Corey Mills, great grandsons Francis F. Mills, Otis T. Mills and Nicholis R. Mills, sisters Darlene Nelson, Carolyn (Bill) Conway and 9 nieces and nephews,

Francis started working at Davis Funeral Chapel at age 14 years old. After becoming a licensed Mortician he remained in Leavenworth until moving to Horton, KS in 1971. He worked as an Embalmer and Funeral Director with various Funeral Homes in Topeka, Ks until 1985 when he became the State Funeral Home and Crematory Inspector.

Most of all he loved his; family, sports, traveling and being outside in the sunshine.

He was a very good athlete and participated in all major sports including, swimming, football, baseball, track, basketball, bowling, boxing and wrestling from an early age. Umpired and coached baseball teams for the City of Leavenworth as a teenager.

His passion was reading Western books and watching western movies.

He was a past Master of the Horton Masonic lodge, Boy Scout leader, President of the Horton Lions Club, member and Treasurer of the Reorganized Church of Later Day Saints in Horton. He also Umpired for the baseball games.

He had a beautiful singing voice and was a gifted artist. Talents which were passed down to his granddaughter Corey and his great grandsons. He loved to dance and was good at it. Francis was an excellent handyman doing electrical, painting, plumbing, carpentry, just about everything.

He loved life and visiting and joking around with people. He enjoyed his job and those he was fortunate enough to have worked with.

He asked in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to his Church. Community of Christ Church, 1100 Halderman St, Leavenworth, KS 66048.

Memorial visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Davis Funeral Chapel.
