Francis Lee Wayman, 93, of Lansing Kansas, husband of the late Eva Mae Wayman, went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2022. He was the son of Garner and Bessie Phillips Wayman of Centerview Missouri. He graduated from Centerview school in 1947. Francis was married to his best friend, Eva, for 71 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, extraordinary father of 3, grandfather of 2 and enjoyed his beautiful 2 year old great granddaughter. Francis was a true friend to many and loved to be of service to people.
Francis retired from Sisters of Charity in 1994. He was a printer by trade having spent over 20 years at the Leavenworth Times newspaper. He drove an afternoon school bus route while his kids were in school and would laugh that the kids gave him an "education"! During retirement Francis and Eva loved to travel. Francis was an avid woodworker and built many pieces of furniture for his home and family. Francis enjoyed his Church family at First Christian Church of Leavenworth, as well as volunteering for many years for Meals on Wheels and the Lansing Historical Society.
Francis was a Third Degree Mason of Easton Masonic Lodge where he served more than 25 years as their secretary. He served the Grand Lodge of Kansas as a District Deputy, Area Deputy and Grand Marshal.
Remembering him with love are his three children: Janet Zirkle of Olathe and Bradenton Beach Fl, Jerri Jensen of Olathe and Steven (Karen) Wayman of Leavenworth; Grandchildren, Jessica Wayman (Tom Schlagel), of Bonner Springs and Tyler Wayman of Leavenworth. The last two years Francis loved watching great granddaughter, Madelyn, grow up. He always looked forward to her weekly visits.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday June 15, 2022 at 10AM at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. The family will receive visitors from from 9AM to 10AM prior to the service. Burial will be at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
Francis is proceeded in death by his parents, sister and his wife, Eva.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Leavenworth Meals on Wheels.
