Obituary

Freda Knight "Connie" passed away after a battle with cancer on August 30 th , 2022 in Leavenworth. She was born at Cushing Hospital on June 27, 1942 to Idamae Gurss Ingersoll and Vincent "Bink" Ingersoll.

She graduated from Leavenworth high in 1960. She was a proud graduate having been part of the group that planned many reunions over the years.

She met and married Kenneth Knight in 1965, while he was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth. They were married a month shy of 50 years when he passed away in 2015.

After many years of being a stay-at-home parent, she returned to work at K-Mart and soon became a pharmacy tech. She worked there for 25 years before retiring. She had also been a girl scout leader as well as being very involved in her husband's Army Reserve spousal support unit.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth Knight, brother, Tom Ingersoll, niece Wendi Ingersoll, and granddaughter, Megan Mooney.

She is survived by her sister Sherry Ruger, Nebraska, her daughters, Michelle Mooney (Terry), White Cloud, KS, Libbi Spears (Clay), Leavenworth, KS, Kendra Knight (Matt Woods), Tonganoxie, KS, Kristin Dixon, Leavenworth, KS, 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Samantha, Matthew, Charlotte, McKelvey and Reese, and 3 great grandchildren, her sisters in law, Margaret Ingersoll, Leavenworth, Kansas, Thelma Redding, Littlestown, PA, Judy Bair and Joyce Hurwitz, both of Maryland, and her lifelong friend Sharon Richardson, as well as many cousins and extended family.

The family wants to thank the team at the KU cancer center for their kindness and support as well as Vitas Hospice for their assistance.

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 6 to 8 P.M.  Funeral service will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
