Genevieve Mae Ryan Schwinn, 90, ran into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Genevieve was born on April 3, 1931 to Edward and Klausena (Klinkenberg) Ryan. Klausena passed away when Genevieve was 10 days old. When she was 13, her father married Bessie Mann, whom she loved as her own mother.
On February 6, 1955 Genevieve married Herbert T. Schwinn at the First Methodist Church in Leavenworth, Kansas. He survives at the home. They began dairy farming in Leavenworth County in 1955. Genevieve was an amazing farm wife and an outstanding mother to her four children. She loved being "Granny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert, her four children, Jeanine Murphy, Tom (Susie) Schwinn, Susan Todd, and Kathleen (Tom) Adams and her seven grandchildren, Sam (Beckie) Murphy, Ryan (Kate) Todd, Caleb Todd, Molly (Ethan) Behne, Jake (Sarah) Schwinn, Aaron (Baillie) Adams and John Schwinn. She also leaves 11 great grandchildren, Emma, Samuel, Joshua and Anna Murphy, Elizabeth, Olivia and Hazel Todd, Nora Behne, Mila and Genevieve Ruth Schwinn and James Adams. She also leaves two cousins, Jennie Coffin and Virginia Mills whom she loved and called her sisters.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 10th and Thornton, on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Leavenworth, KS, where she was a member. Burial will be at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank Barbara Warden, Crittendon Home Health and ANew Healthcare for their loving care of Genevieve over the last year.
