Haroldine May Nisbet passed away peacefully at home April 19, 2025. Haroldine was born to Harold and Fanchon Hart August 23,1926 in Portland, Oregon. Raised in Seattle, she attended the University of Washington. During WWII she worked a summer job at Boeing Aircraft Plant as a shop clerk supplying rivets to "Rosie the Riviters".
She married Lt. Andrew Nisbet on September 6,1947. They shared a wonderful 66 years together. In her 30 years as a military wife, she moved with her family 17 times and packed and unpacked 22 homes. She had a knack for making each move an adventure to be anticipated for all her family. She was conversant in German, Thai and Spanish as she felt it was necessary to speak the language of the country they were stationed in.
Haroldine was an active participant on every community she lived in. She volunteered with ACS, Red Cross, School for the Blind, and Family Support Groups. She also taught nursery school and Head Start. While in Thailand she taught at Bangkok Business College.
In 1976 Andrew retired and they settled in Sequim, Washington. For the next 33 years she became involved in politics, supporting Andrew during his terms as Washington State Representative and Port Angeles Port Commissioner. She ran for the Washington State Senate. She had a plaque that said "A Woman's Place is in the House... and in the Senate". She and Andrew continued to travel extensively. They were very involved with the Rotary Friendship Exchange and sponsoring Rotary high school Exchange Students. In 2009 due to health issues they left their lovely home in the Pacific Northwest and moved to Leavenworth, Kansas to be close to daughter Gwyneth. Even with this last move Haroldine as always became involved in her community. She was a member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, PEO, Outfront Lunch group, Happy Bookers book group, and Bible study. At 90 she was still Volunteering at Catholic Charities. Although the last few years brought health challenges that kept her at home, she continued to be a dear friend to all and the beloved matriarch of her family. Haroldine will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and the love she shared will continue to live on in our memories forever.
Haroldine was presided in death by her beloved husband Andrew Nisbet and her dear son Phillip Nisbet.
She is survived by her daughter Gwyneth Hawk (Michael), and sons, Andrew Nisbet (Cecilia) and Kevin Nisbet (Julie). Her Grandchildren Jennifer Davis (Craig), Brooke Plemmons (Paul), Andrew Jacob Nisbet (Cathiran), Kathleen Halpin (Steve), Zachary Nisbet (Gizem), Abigail Nisbet, Nathanial Nisbet, Aaron  Nisbet and Benjamin Nisbet. Her Great grandchildren Hayden Davis, Abigail Davis, Grace Davis, Julia Plemmons, Elora Plemmons, Pierce Plemmons, Andrew Quinn Nisbet, Edward Nisbet, Stephen Halpin.
A Memorial Service will be held at St Paul's Episcopal Church, Leavenworth, Kansas on June 7,2025 at 11:00am. Followed by a reception in the Parrish Hall. Haroldine will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her memory to St Paul's Episcopal Church Organ Fund.
