Harriet K. Smith "Granny", 83, of Lansing, KS, died on April 2, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on January 12, 1942, in Leavenworth, KS, to Mary I. (Black) Filbert "Izzy" and Clarence A. Filbert "Bud". Harriet graduated from Lansing High School in 1960, and married her soulmate, James M. Smith, in Miami, OK, in 1961. They were blessed with 4 children and were married just shy of 60 years.
Harriet worked in various clerical positions while raising her family. Harriet enjoyed crafting, bird watching, gardening, road trips, and anything that had to do with her grandchildren or great grandchildren. Caring for her family and being available to help were her priorities, always.
She is survived by her children: Melissa K. Draisey (Keith), James R. "Bob" Smith (Lisa), Matthew M. Smith (Brenda), and Rebecca "Becky" S. Caldwell (Monte); her 9 grandchildren: Emilia Ernzen (Jared), Jesse Peters (Emerald), Cameron Harris (Casey), Charles "Charlie" Smith, James "J.T." Smith, Riley "Bella" Conklin (Elliott), Bailey Zinser (Lydia), Jett Smith, and Evelyn "Eve" Smith; 5 great grandchildren: Ellie, Marley, Everly, Easton, and Lyla; 4 siblings: Bill Filbert (Sabra), Danny Filbert (Debbie), Nancy Lonas (Jim), and Judy Cammack (Kevin), and many nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her loving husband, father, mother, and three brothers: Clancy, Jimmy, and Chuck.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 7, from 6-8 pm at Davis Funeral Chapel with a graveside service on Tuesday, April 8, at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens in Leavenworth, KS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the GI Research Foundation, or The Orthotics and Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research.
