Obituary

Harry James Emery, Sr. passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, he was 80 years old, Born on August 20, 1945, in Leavenworth, Harry was the son of Willard and Sophie Emery.

A proud graduate of Leavenworth High School's Class of 1964, he was a dedicated athlete who lettered in track and served as a basketball manager.

Immediately following graduation, Harry answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army. A brave veteran of the Vietnam Wat, he served two tours of duty and was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice and service.

Upon returning to civilian life, Harry worked for Hallmark Cards and the Battery Factory before beginning a distinguished career with the US. Department of Labor. He retired after 30 years of service. having received numerous awards for his dedication and hard work.

Known as a man who could fix anything, Harry was often found working on a neighbor's car or helping someone with a home project. He was a man of immense kindness who loved his family deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Harry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Willard G. Emery and Sophie Logan Emery, his son; Larry James Emery St. brothers: Willard, Elmer, Alfred and Joe Emery, sisters; Mary Ann Emery, Margaret Gooch and Nellie Emery.

He is survived by his devoted companion and best friend of over 35 years, Rainell Turner, who cherished him as the love of her life. He also leaves behind his children: Harry J. Emery, Jr, Terrance Emery, Sione Emery, Michelle Emery, Keith Emery, Kyle Emery and his sister, Ella (Timothy) Humphrey and a host of nieces, nephews & cousins.

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday May 14, 2026 from 11 A.M. to Noon. Funeral service will follow at Noon at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
