Hilda V. Cole, an intermittent resident of the Leavenworth area since 1953, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in Houston Texas. She was 80. Hilda was born May 30th, 1943 in Dawson, GA. and was the daughter of the late Willard J. Fishe MSGT (Ret.) and the late Lilly E. Fishe. She was married to SFC (Ret.) James B. Cole who proceeded her in death on June 6th, 1993. Hilda graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1962 and attended IBM Business College. She was an active homemaker and supported her husband and children through various Army postings in Germany and domestically. Hilda was a member of the Catholic Church and taught 1st Grade Catechism in Germany. She entered the workplace at Fort Leavenworth for the Commissary, Post Exchange and finally at Command, General Staff College - Media Support Division. Hilda is survived by her Sons, Christopher Moore of Denver, CO, Philip Moore of Houston, TX, Anthony Moore of Miami, FL, and siblings, Anne R. Fishe of Gresham, OR, Wilma J. Cooper of San Francisco, CA, Willard J. Fishe Jr. of Sacramento, CA, and William H. Fishe of Colorado Springs, CO. Her extended family also consists of 2 granddaughters and many cousins and relatives throughout the United States. A memorial and visitation service will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 8th from 5 – 7 p.m. The burial service will begin at Davis Funeral Chapel at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9th followed by internment service at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at 10 a.m.
