James Edward Iverson, Sr., passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was born on April 23, 1928 the son of the late Edward and Virginia Iverson, an only child. He graduated from Washington High School. James married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Quintillia Smith on May 17, 1956. Shortly thereafter, he joined the U.S. Air Force in which he served from 1956 to 1960. Upon completion of his military service he worked at Ford Motor Company and retired after 30+ years of dedicated service. James and Sharon spent 43 years together until her passing.
James married Dolliver Taylor on April 19, 2001. They relocated to New Port Richey, Florida where they were active members of Union Missionary Baptist church and enjoyed other activities in the community. Upon their return to the Kansas City area in 2012, James was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E Church, Kansas City, KS.
James was preceded in death by his wife Sharon and his daughter, Quana Iverson. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 19 years, Dolliver Iverson; daughter, Wanda Iverson, two sons, Edward (Crystal) Iverson; James Iverson, Jr. Three stepchildren, LaVetta Taylor, Nichelle (Charles) Sipes and Terrence (Melinda) Taylor. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
A private burial will be held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Please send all condolences to Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
