James (Jim) E. Wardlow passed away to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on April 5, 2023. Jim was born in
San Diego, California, November 24 th , 1951 to Melvin L. Wardlow Sr. & Irene Harvey Wardlow. Jim was
married for 42 years to the love of his life, Beatrice Carmona Wardlow on August 1, 1981. To this union
James brought his two children, Brent J. Wardlow and Nicole E. Feagins. Beatrice brought her two
children, Michelle Smith (Michael) and Jerry J. Blair II.
Jim had a fascination with Alaska where he lived as an Army brat when he was a young boy. He
graduated with the class of 1969 from Lansing High School. Jim went on to serve in the National Guard
for six years and was Honorably discharged as a Specialist Five. Jim worked for 26 years at the Lansing
Correctional Facility, Kansas State Penitentiary as a Corrections Officer and was promoted to
Correctional Sargent for the remainder of his career.
Jim loved to travel and take cruises which took him to destinations like Alaska, Germany, Ukraine,
Greece, and all across the U.S. He enjoyed boating, camping, and especially deep sea fishing with his
son-in-law Michael Smith. Above all else Jim enjoyed his grandbabies and you could find him spending
big money at the dollar tree purchasing treasures. Jim loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren
with all his heart. Jim thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of his life from the smallest event to the largest.
Jim was an avid Kansas State University, Chiefs, and Royals fan. He recently became a big fan of
Washington State University Marching Band. You could find him on his back porch BBQing for friends
and family alike. He had a wry smile and a dry sense of humor. He loved going to the movie theatre and
his favorites were the Marvel movies. He had a special friendship for many years with Eddy Kane and
Mary Walls who will miss Jim dearly. He also shared time with lifelong friends John Gallagher, Don &
Denise Portice, and Pat Severies.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents Melvin (Pansy) Wardlow Sr., Irene Harvey Wardlow, brother
Melvin Wardlow Jr., and Roger Tolliver (brother-in-law). Jim is survived by his wife Beatrice, his four
children, 6 grandchildren - Taylar, Sierra, Michaela, Zoe, Paige, Charlotte, and 3 great grandchildren
Brynleigh, Teagan, Noah. He leaves behind brothers Steven (Tina) Wardlow, Mike (Mona) Wardlow,
Larry Wardlow and sister Laura Tolliver. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law Barbara (Tom) Kessler
(Kansas), Bonnie Wardlow (Colorado), and Susan Carmona (Germany) as well as many nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Beatrice would like to thank the St. Paul's Episcopal Church for all the support and services. Please make

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Episcopal Church on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 10 A.M. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
