Jean Marie Redford passed away peacefully on October 14, 2020.  She was born December 8, 1927 to Edward M. and Agnes (Schrick) Forge and was a lifetime Leavenworth resident. She attended Coffin School in Kickapoo and Leavenworth High School. On September 14, 1944 she married Melvin R. Redford Sr.

Jean was a cook at Salt Creek Valley School and later at Eisenhower School at Fort Leavenworth. First and foremost, she was a devoted homemaker, wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma. She treasured her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Her grandchildren looked forward to holidays at grandma's house and enjoyed sharing her lovingly prepared dinners. She was famous for her delicious pies.

Steadfast in her faith, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and most recently her son Larry who passed away in August. She is survived by her four sons: Bob of Leavenworth, Ron (Carolyn) of Derby, KS; Mark (Joni) of Papillion, NE; and Mike (Claudette) of Platte City; her daughter Pat (Herb) Nye of Lenexa; and her daughter-in-law Rosemary Redford of Leavenworth.  She is also survived by her brother Eddie Forge of Leavenworth and sisters Dee Heintzelman of Leavenworth and Dar Kleypus of Kansas City, MO. She has 21 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and counting!  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Rosary will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Sunday, October 18 ^th at 5:30PM followed by visitation from 6:00 to 8:00PM.  The funeral mass will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, October 19 ^th at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 306 N. Broadway Street.  Masks will be required at both the funeral chapel and the church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
