Jerry Moore passed away on November 8, 2020 at the age of 72.
Jerry was born on June 21, 1948 in Pampa, Texas, to V.C. and Margie (Brummett) Moore. He grew up in Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1966. He attended Texas Tech University prior to enlisting in the Army in 1968. He was in the Army from 1968 to 1977. During his years in the Army he spent a year in Vietnam. He was then assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri prior to spending three years in Frankfurt, Germany. Following his assignment in Germany, he was assigned to Fort Leavenworth, KS. He left the Army in 1977 and returned to school at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth. He graduated from Saint Mary in 1980 with a degree in physics and chemistry. After graduation, Jerry went back to work for the Army as a civilian. He worked as a computer systems analyst for the Combined Arms Combat Development Activity from 1980 until 1995, and then at the TRADOC Analysis Center from 1995 until his retirement in 2003.
In the early years of his retirement, Jerry spent time taking care of grandchildren and doing most of the cooking for the household. In later years, he enjoyed having weekly Wednesday lunches with former co-workers from CACDA, and monthly Tuesday lunches with former co-workers from TRAC. He also spent a lot of time fishing, and in the last few years he especially enjoyed taking an annual fishing trip to Canada with friends. He did a lot of volunteer work with the Leavenworth County Republicans.
Jerry was an active member of the First Christian Church in Leavenworth. He served in many capacities in the church through the years. At various times he taught Sunday school, was a member of a variety of committees, and served as a deacon and an elder.
Jerry married Evalyn Hubert on January 16, 1976, she survives at their home in Leavenworth. He is also survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Robert) Keller and Jennifer Moore; a stepdaughter Christina Powell Delgado; grandchildren Chelsea Moore and Jared, Christin and Margaret Collins; step-grandchildren Amenda (Jeremy) Ploeger, Eric (Rachel) Revels, and Kristopher Revels; great-grandchildren Wyatt Moore, Lilly Tessitore, Jaden, Maddex and Arabella Ploeger, Amare and Amoni Burnside, Addy McDonald, and Jaxxon Revels; sisters Linda Dodd and Vicki (Paul) Helms; sisters-in-law, Connie Weaver and Sue Hubert; and brothers-in-law Wesley (Pat) Hubert, Barney (Kathi Firns) Hubert, John Hubert, and Ed (Gayle) Hubert and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, V.C. and Margie Moore; parents-in-law Wesley and Connie Hubert; son-in-law Ralph Collins; and brother-in-law Newton Dodd.
Services for Jerry will be held the First Christian Church at 6 th and Seneca in Leavenworth, Kansas on Monday, November 16, 2020. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. and military honors at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church.
