Jewell Franklin West III passed away in his home in Kansas City, KS on December 29, 2023. His wife of 47 1/2 years, Diane Vanek West was with him when he died.

He was born on December 21, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jewell West Sr and Doris Hartman West who preceded him in death.

While in Wyandotte High School he played Basketball.

While going to Emporia State University, he was a starter in Basketball.

During College Jewell had  Track and Basketball scholarships to college. After college he was a  Semi-pro baseball for KC Royals, Semi-pro Football, AAU Basketball, AA Major Softball (Fast pitch/Slow pitch), Volleyball, etc.

He was a Firefighter and eventually worked on the first EMS for Kansas City, Kansas at the headquarters downtown.

Sales/Sales Manager

He worked for several top-notch companies: Oscar Mayer, Lever Brothers, Bankers Systems Inc. and Modern Banking Systems. He was the owner/manager for the McGonigle Mansion on 420 South Broadway for 30 years. It had 17 apartments for CGSC officers. He also did major restoration of the mansion.

DJCM. ATM sales and service. sold, owned, operated and serviced ATMs in the KC metro area for 17 years.

American Resource Consultants – for 22 Years. He was the owner and manager which provides election supplies to county election offices in the United States. He was a volunteer President of Leavenworth Historical Museum Assoc. Inc. He was president when the museum association acquired the 1913 C.W. Parker Carousel, the First City Museum and the National Fred Harvey Museum. He was also president of the Leavenworth Historical Museum Association recently. He loved to metal detect and look up family history.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, Sister Cindy and partner Judith, Diane's sister Karen and her daughters Christy and Tina, Diane's mother LaVerne, Jewell's Aunt Carol and Uncle Jim of Oxford PA., Cousin Susan. He also had many second cousins in the area.

He was a good, kind, considerate and honest man who will be missed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First City Museum, or National Fred Harvey Museum or C.W. Carousel Museum

Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 3 to 7 P.M.
