John E. Potts, Sr., 89, Lawrence, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022. John was born September 6, 1933 in Sardis, Mississippi.

John retired as a Brigadier General after serving over 27 years in the United States Army.

John leaves behind his son: John Potts Jr., five grandchildren, Juwan Potts, Kayla Potts, Jatayah McDonald, Jaden Potts, Jemma Potts, one great grandson Alonzo Potts-Thompson, eight nephews and nieces, George Furch, Valerie Spencer, Tomika Huff, Renee Huff, Byron Brown, Keisha Spencer, Tyrell Huff, Essence Garner, and a host of other great nephews and nieces.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Emma Potts.

Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
