John S. Schimke, Lansing, died suddenly on Monday November 1, 2021, at Menorah Medical

Center; likely the result of the Ataxia he was suffering from. He was 50.

He was born January 7, 1971, in Leavenworth, the son of Ralph and Patricia Schimke.

He graduated from Lansing High School in 1989 and got his B.S. in Chemistry from Kansas

State University in 1992

He was a chemist and worked for Quintiles. Hallmark Cards, and ABC laboratories.

His qreatest joy in life was his famiiy and being active with them while he was able to. After

growing up in Lansing and going to school in Manhattan, he also lived for a number of years in

Lee Summit and Columbia, MO before returning to Lansing.

Survivors include a daughter, Lauren (Ryan) Tarrence of Springfield, MO.; two sons Gage

(Summer) Schimke of Columbia, and Jaden Schimke who is currently serving in the Marine

Corps. Other survivors include his father, Ralph Schimke of Lansing, KS; his sister Tammy

Utrico of Asheville, NC, his brother Scott (Lynda) Schimke and his nieces and nephews,

Meghan, Courtney, Alex, Lance & Marissa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or The National Ataxia Foundation.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 7, 2021, 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, KS. A brief service will be held immediately following the visitation.
