Joseph  "Joe" Allen Vandruff, 64, of Leavenworth, Kansas spent time under hospice care surrounded by his three daughters, wife, twelve grandkids, niece, and friends. Joe passed away on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 at The KC Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

Joe was born September 23, 1956 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of William G. and Bonnie J. (Mosbacher) Vandruff, Sr.

As a young man, Joe and his older brother, Bill, had many grand adventures exploring the Country by hitchhiking from Kansas to various cities. Joe stayed briefly with friends in California and Florida and everywhere in between while enjoying the freedoms of life.

When it was time to settle down, Joe realized that the best place to live was his home town and married Rhonda Kay Lunsford on September 26, 1984. Joe worked with his father in the family heating and air conditioning business. Joe's work ethic and dedication eventually earned him foreman positions with multiple local businesses. Tragically, Joe had an accident while at work, injuring his back, leading to an early retirement.

Joe became a loving father to Elizabeth May Vandruff in 1985, and added two twin girls, Tabitha Louise Vandruff and Melissa Jean Vandruff to their growing family in 1987. Any free time was dedicated to his three little girls by camping and fishing with friends, hunting for mushrooms, concert going, and cooking family recipes. Joe was famous among all family and close friends for his delicious lasagna, chicken noodle soup, chili, and always making everyone laugh with jokes. He was a friend to all and always made everyone feel welcome. Joe became a grandfather in 2003. As his little army of grandchildren grew, so did his heart as he loved each of them dearly. Joe loved spending time with his grandkids for birthday parties, family dinners, and outings for the kids.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Vandruff of Lansing, three daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" (Bobby) Zhou, Tabitha "Tabby" Vandruff (Allen Hull), Melissa "Missy" (Greg) Gee, twelve grandchildren, Devin Vandruff, Trinity Martinez, Vanessa Guerra, Makayla Martinez, Hannah Guerra, Madison Martinez, Bryce Hernandez, Clarence Jr. Hernandez, Annabelle Zhou, Callie Charlton, Adalyn Zhou, and Andrew Zhou, one brother, Charles "Chuck" (Carri) Banes, two sisters, Mayetta Evans, Danielle Parks (Chuck Mason), one Aunt, Virginia Harth, one Uncle, Leonard (Shirley) Vandruff, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, William G. Vandruff, Bonnie J. Banes, Dannie C. Banes, and Nora M. Vandruff, and one brother, William "Bill" G. Vandruff Jr.,

Visitation will be held at 11 am with Memorial Services following at 12 pm on Thursday, May 6th, 2021 at Davis Funeral Chapel. Masks are required.
