In Loving Memory of Karen Joyce VanArsdale Culbert


Karen Joyce VanArsdale Culbert Peacefully Passed into the Loving arms of Jesus, surrounded by her loved ones on October 13th 2024.

Karen was born on March 28th, 1942, to Ellsworth and Florence VanArsdale on Staten Island, New York. Karen had one sibling, Donald VanArsdale (resting in heaven).

While working at the Red Cross in New York City, at age 17, she met the love of her life and husband of 56 years, Robert N Culbert (resting in heaven). She traveled the world and supported him in his military service of 22 years then service to our Nations Veterans for another 20 years. Settling down in Leavenworth, KS for years into retirement.

While raising her children, she worked part time at the Lansing School District. A few years later, she was employed at Saint Mary College as the bookstore manager and later in life continuing her passion for animals at the local pet store with her daughter, Donna. She was also volunteer for the counsel on aging, sewing projects for those in need, serving as an accountant  for The First Baptist Church and regularly donating to the Humane Society.

She was blessed with four children, Laura Fleming (John Fleming) of Leavenworth KS Donna Wayman (resting in heaven) Robert Culbert (Julie Culbert) of Leavenworth KS & Karen Culbert of Leavenworth KS

9 Grandchildren and 15 Great grandchildren

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for her love for her family and Jesus, her extraordinary affection for cats, her passion for music and dance and the ability to make you laugh with her ornery sense of humor.
