Katherine (Kathy) Jo Aaron of Lawrence, KS., passed away at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS., Monday, August 30, 2021. Kathy was 70 years young. Born to Ed and Georgia (Strawn) Aaron on September 24, 1950, at St. John's Hospital in Leavenworth, KS., Kathy was welcomed home by her sisters Barbara, Mary, Janet, and Linda. Kathy welcomed her baby sister, Jeanne, home in 1956.

Kathy held many positions at Ed's Angus Restaurant with her most notable position being "Official Greeter". Many patrons would enter the restaurant and talk with Kathy before they were seated. Each one would be sure to tell Kathy goodbye before they left.

Kathy loved many things: Music, especially Catholic Mass music and patriotic music; Kansas City Royals (especially her "boyfriend", George Brett); Kansas City Chiefs ("Go Chiefs!") and the University of Kansas Jayhawks ("Rock Chalk! Jayhawks KU!)

Kathy traveled to many locations with her parents (Alaska, Hawaii), her mom (Cruises), her sister Linda and brother-in-law Fabian (Puerto Rico, Aruba, St. John, St. Martin), her sister Jeanne and brother-in-law Rex, (Florida, Virginia, California), as well as many other trips. Always wanting to be with her family and not miss out on anything, she would stay up and watch the late-night Gin games claiming that she was a "Night Owl".

Following her mother's passing in 1997, Kathy and her dog, Sam, joined Jeanne, Rex and their sons, Zachary, and Kyle, in Lawrence. She moved with them to California in 2001 and back to Lawrence in 2003. The expression, "lt takes a village!", took on a new life as she explored her Lawrence and Cottonwood communities. Kathy met many devoted people who not only protected her and enriched her life but whose lives she enriched beyond measure.

Kathy had "her own place" for a few years, Cottonwood's Blazing Star home, which she loved. She spent her weekdays at the Cottonwood Retirement Center creating many pieces of art that were displayed in multiple shows.

Kathy knew no strangers. Not only did everyone know Kathy, but everyone also loved Kathy. Kathy's love of animals brought many treats to dogs as she trained them to say her name!

Kathy's family includes her parents, Ed (dec.) and Georgia (Strawn) Aaron [dec.], sisters Barbara (Mark) Snyder of Muscatine, lA, Mary Williams (dec.) and Ferris Anthony (dec.) of Antioch, CA, Janet (Ed (dec.)) Yaugo of Williamsburg, VA, Linda (Fabian) Robitaille of Bradenton, FL, Jeanne (Rex) Gardner of Lawrence, KS, and seventh sister Carol (Ben (dec.)) Schmidt of Leavenworth, KS, "brothers", Zachary
Gardner of Olathe, KS, Kyle Gardner of Hampton, NJ. Kathy has many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kathy's life will be celebrated on September 23, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church in Leavenworth, KS. Visitation wilt be from 10 am - 11 am. Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11 am with Fr. Daniel Gardner officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lansing, KS. A Covid-aware picnic will follow at Wollman Park in Leavenworth, KS.
