Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Hoffman, 70, of Leavenworth, passed away on January 18, 2023 in her home.

Kathy was born on February 18, 1952 to Walter and Edna Schepler in Sterling, CO. She was the fourth of five children, Richard, Robert, Paul, Kathy, and Lavonne. After Kathy graduated from Hot Springs High School, SD in 1970, she went on to study education at Black Hills State University. After working several years as a teacher, she went back to school and studied nursing at Dakota Wesleyan University. She started her 30-year career as a Registered Nurse for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

On November 19, 1972, Kathy welcomed her son Jason Schepler to the world. For a long time, it was Kathy and Jason against the world with the assistance of her parents and family. In 1990, Kathy met Richard "Butch" Hoffman and they quickly fell for one another. Kathy and Butch went on to have a daughter, Megan Murphy, on September 26, 1991. They were then wed February 13, 1992 and lived happily for many years.

In 2008, Kathy retired from the VA and worked off and on as a travel nurse and in nursing homes for several years before officially retiring from the nursing profession. Kathy spent her time after retirement working in her garden, bird watching, reading, crocheting, and enjoying retirement with Butch on their little farm in the county.

Kathy was predeceased by Richard Hoffman, Walter Schepler, Edna Schepler, Richard Schepler, Paul Schepler.  Kathy is survived by Jason (Shauna) Schepler, Megan (Kyle) Murphy, Robert (Carla) Schepler, Lavonne (John) Kohl, Keith Hoffman, Pam (Miles) Eberhardt, Ashley (Josh) Meyers, Kylie Chalender, Ethan Rothecker, Derek Rothecker, Jojo Currie, her four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and pets.

Memorial Services will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel (531 Shawnee Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048) on Friday, February 3 from 4-6. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support medical advancement and research on cancer, an organization the American Cancer Society she felt strongly about.
