Nana Latreal came to Leavenworth in 1982.
She began her culinary career by running the Military Mess Hall on Fort Leavenworth, and later worked as a chef and head of culinary services in the metro area until she retired. She'd cater events, cook meals for those in need and loved to FOOD! In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to bingo, cooking, drawing, and thrift shopping.
Latreal was a deep Woman of Faith, never hesitating to offer her time to just talk, say a prayer or give words of encouragement to anyone who crossed her path. If your path crossed hers, she considered it a blessing and tried to bless your life in return.
In the days that have followed her passing, her family has received an amazing outpouring of love and support and memories. To include how she spent her last days here on Earth, which was reaching out to so many people and leaving everyone she could with a message of love, faith and wisdom.
Those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives will always feel her absence, yet they will forever carry the imprint of her presence.
We love you, Nana, and thank you for your life. You will live on in the hearts of each and every one of us.
