Leslie Eugene Ward, 90 years old, passed away on October 5, 2020, in Leavenworth Kansas.

A memorial service was held on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the National Leavenworth Cemetery with close family and friends.

Leslie was born January 30, 1930, during the Great Depression. He is survived by his sisters, Ida Bousfield, Celeste Smith, his son, Leslie Eugene Ward Jr (Gene); his three daughters, Cheryl Johnson,  Deneise Davis and Jackie Ward-Sewing.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Ward, brother, Robert Billingsley, son Keith Ward and daughter Joyce Myers.

He enlisted into the Army at age 17, and fought on the front lines in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1950. He later worked for General Motors, and went on to be the Union Steward.  He retired after 30 years of service at age 55.

He and his wife traveled across the country, enjoying their retirement, until finally moving to Arizona, where he lived for many years. He returned to Kansas after his wife's passing, and settled in a retirement home in Leavenworth.

He will be laid to rest along with his wife at the Leavenworth National Cemetery for veterans and their spouses. This was his final wish. We love you Dad, may you rest in peace.
