Leslie Gene Webber, Sr (Gene), 92, Leavenworth, passed peacefully into the loving hands of his
waiting wife of 72 years, Maryann (passed 28 April), at St Luke Hospice House, Thursday, 24
June. There will be no visitation and Inurnment will be private. Memorial contributions in
remembrance of him may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church.
Gene is survived by his two sons, Leslie Gene Webber Jr. (Les, wife Andrea) and James E.
Webber (Jim, wife Suzy), and numerous grandchildren. Gene was born on 18 February 1929 in
St Francis, Kansas, to Harold Webber and Mary E (Marie) Coffey.
He and his beloved wife, Maryann, were residences of Leavenworth for over 72 years. During
their nearly 40 retirement years, together, they lived a wonderful life. They toured nearly all the
American West, the National parks, and visited Europe once. They were blessed with the ability
to retire early from the Telephone company after 33 years of service, and spent 36 wonderful
winters in Yuma, Arizona. His full circle of life ended in peaceful sleep after 92 years of a
great and fulfilling journey, where he touched many with his kind spirit, quick smile, and jest
for life! He will be greatly missed but will live on forever in our vivid memories of "Pop" with
his wonderful white hair!
