Obituary

Linda L. (Rees) Hawkins, 79, Lansing, KS passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 5-7pm at Davis Funeral Chapel of Leavenworth. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 11am at the First Baptist Church located at 340 N. 13 th Street, Leavenworth, Ks. Graveside services to follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery in Lansing, Ks. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Kiwanis Club of Leavenworth.

Linda was born on March 2, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to Dorothy Marie (Bean) Thomas and Roy Marcus Thomas, Jr. Linda graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1961 and attended Donnelly college. On April 22, 1992 Linda married Arthur E. Hawkins III. Linda retired from Leavenworth County, where she worked in both the Treasurer's office and the planning and zoning department for over 20 years. Prior to that, she worked at Fairmont Dairy for several years. During retirement, Linda enjoyed traveling, playing Bunko and volunteering. Linda was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed all types of sewing projects. Linda was an active member of Kiwanis International and was a past president for that organization, as well as the American Business Women's Association. Linda was also a proud Grandmother of 2 Eagle Scouts. Linda is survived by her husband of 30 years, Arthur E. Hawkins III; 3 daughters, Andrea Taylor and husband Chad Taylor; Cindy Rees-Kane and her husband Edward Kane, Belinda Rees; son Brian Rees and his wife Peggy Rees; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.

The family would like to thank Interim Healthcare Hospice, especially their nurse, Dawn, for the
compassion and support they offered Linda during her final journey home.
