Obituary

Louis Edward Aaron, 72, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 after an extended struggle with complications from COPD. His loss is felt deeply by his family, extended relatives, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His Celebration of Life and remembrance service will be held at St. Joseph Church in Leavenworth on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10:30 am with a fellowship gathering in the church basement afterwards. Private interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Humble, down to earth, hard-working, caring, respected, funny, big-hearted, loyal, a straight-shooter and family man are words that characterized Lou. He was always ready and willing to help those around him and was the one everyone called when in a pinch. He had many talents and interests and enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, whether it was working on a project or doing activities together. Through his generosity with his time and skills, he touched many people in his life and will live on through the countless special memories created with them. Those closest to him take comfort in the knowledge that he is resting in peace, pain free and breathing easy.
Lou was born in Leavenworth on October 1, 1951 to the late Georgiana (Bink) Aaron Rogan and Leo Bernard Aaron. He was the 4th of 5 boys, all of whom survive. He was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1969. On February 12, 1972, he married Sherry (DeMoss) Aaron and they had 3 daughters together who were a source of great pride and joy as well as aggravation. Lou was a distinguished employee of the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years and many co-workers from his time there became good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews Paul Aaron and John Aaron, and his partner, Lavonia Reece. He is survived by a whole host of family and friends including but not limited to, his three daughters: Melissa Louise (Aaron) George, her husband, Michael George and their two daughters, Savannah and Sheridan of Austin, Texas; Shelley Marie (Aaron) Camarena and her four children Owen, Jacob, Mason and Nora of Leavenworth, Kansas; and April Ann Aaron and her partner, Drew Holder of North Little Rock, Arkansas; former spouse, Sherry Aaron of Leavenworth, Kansas; his brothers: Michael Aaron of Corpus Christi, Texas; Patrick "Pat" Aaron and his wife Cynthia Aaron of Leavenworth, Kansas; close cousin, Carol Anne (Connelly) Schmidt of Leavenworth, Kansas; and close life-long friends, William 'Barney' Bond, and Robert 'Bob' Swann.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences be left on Lou's online guestbook at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com
