Obituary

Madgie Lee (Lowe) Doss, 93, passed away on February 2, 2022 at St. John's Hospital, Leavenworth, KS

Madgie Lee Lowe was the 2nd daughter born to the late Leroy Lowe and Annie T. (Rabb) Lowe on August 10, 1928 in Homer, Louisiana. She received her education in Magnolia, Arkansas.

She met Nolin Doss in downtown Magnolia, Arkansas one Saturday afternoon in 1942 while he was home on leave from the US Army. The two were wed on December 24,1945 in Minden, Louisiana. Madgie traveled to most of his duty stations, to include Augsburg, Germany where the first of her three children, a son, would join the family. She often spoke of her adventures traveling both nationally and internationally as an Army Wife.  After Nolin's retirement from the military, they settled in Leavenworth, Kansas, where their second son and a daughter would join their family.

Madgie Lee (affectionately known as Puddin) was a Daughter, a Sister, a Cousin, an Aunt, a Mother, and a Grandmother. But most of all, she was a friend. She was a dutiful caregiver with a huge heart that was well known by many for her big hugs. She loved everybody and everybody loved her. She was the First Lady of New Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Leavenworth, Kansas for over 25 years. She operated a Child Daycare center in her home with her daughter for over 15 years. She loved seeing pictures and hearing about all of her babies. She never forgot a single one and there were quite a few. She loved singing and spending time with her family, especially all of her sisters making ceramics together.  She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, crocheting, cooking, and playing board games.

Madgie Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters: Loretta Derritt, Ola Mae Lamb, Variese Tolbert and Rebecca Simpson; her oldest son, Larry Lon Doss Sr and many other relatives. She leaves her youngest son James M. Doss, her daughter Bylinda M. Doss, her grandson Larry Lon Doss Jr., her sister, Buelah Fitzpatrick, her granddog Jellybean Doss, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and all of her Babies to cherish her memory.'
