Margaret Katherine "M.K." Baskas
M.K. Baskas passed away on 15 September 2025 at John's Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. She was born on June 8, 1935 in Kickapoo, KS to John Burke Baskas and Margaret Pike.
M.K. graduated from IMAC and soon after enlisted in the W.A.V.E.S. She did her basic training at Bainbridge, MD. She then served at NAS Charleston, SC; Great Lakes, IL; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Norfolk, VA; and Anacostia, Washington, D.C.
Sometime after separating, she was employed at and retired from the American Automobile Association (A.A.A.) in Virginia, working in the accounting department. During this time, and with the help of her close friend, B. Marsden of Washington, D.C., she raised her two nephews, Dr. Richard Baskas and James Allen Baskas, in Clinton, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; half-sisters, Anna Eileen Becker-Schulte (Bill) and Lilly Mae Becker-Hattok (Lee); Baskas siblings, Buddy (Mary Margaret), Leo (Mildred), Frank (Lou), Tom (June), Pat (Dorothy), Bobby (Tudy); Porky (Joanne); Johanna, Mike (Una), Jim (Virginia); and a stepson, James Allen Baskas. She is survived by another stepson, Dr. R.S. Baskas of the home. Funeral arrangements are planned in the family plot at Mt. Calvary.
